Showroom Vs. Invitation

Today me & Chloe came to the conclusion that the invitation we produce (regardless of it's medium) should reflect all the benefits & aspects of the showroom. Subsequently the invitation should be:

- Interactive - aspects such as a section that you unfold, a piece you tear off or push through. Something that gives the user more than just face value.

- Tactile & reminiscent of being in the showroom - the stock should definitely be the focus of the person receiving it. They should want to touch the invitation & not put it down... at least for a good 5 minutes. This can be done via print finishes etc..

- Engaging - along with the interactivity the design should hold the attention of the viewer by means of image, typography, content, message & that all important print finish.

- A personal experience - it should feel special as if it were a personal gift from Fedrigoni. We want the receiver to feel like a valued customer/customer-to-be! This is normally achieved when the time, effort & thought visible in the resolution.

- Contemporary - the final resolution should play upon traditional elements, but not let this over-ride the fun elements that demonstrate a light-hearted aspect of the company & their wish to be creative.

- Modern yet understated, cleanly designed with space & light - these should be reflected in the design and typography of the invitation.

- Enjoyable & refreshing - the concept & ideas behind the design should be exciting, new, forward thinking & potentially a move away from traditional design. This is where folded paper, clever concepts & interactivity would be suitable. Both of us are particularly favourable of the Consult's party hat resolution to the Shelter brief!

- Social - promotion of the friendliness that the space provides & let the wish of the company to get people into the showroom shine through.

- Enthusiastic, pleasingly geeky! - designers & lovers of stock know they are geeky & want to indulge in this obsession. The resolution should communicate the company's dedication to their product.

- Knowledgeable & professional - although they (Fedrigoni) are fun, they know what they are talking about. Their professionalism needs to come through. This maybe via the means of considered typography & attention to great finish.

- A step further than other paper suppliers & an extra effort to the client - the design should go the extra mile, be extra special & different from your average invitation! This will come direct from the quality of the finish, the consideration of the design & the innovation/originality.

All in all, it should be more than just an invite. It should be something you tuck away in that old shoe box of old papers that you like to keep hold of forever!
